I am going crazy. I have already been a vegetarian for the past 15 years. Three years ago I finished eating fish and struggled you can eat vegan. Could not drink black coffee or give up goat cheese. That ended my vegan ways. I used to be eating carbs. Salad, veggies, fruits, pasta, bread, pizza. I admit I love my chocolate too! In December 2014 I felt inflamed from inside. I have always believed that eating is an experiment i had to listen to my body system and eat only once I was hungry. I added fish into my life three months ago, eliminated the pizza and felt better. I thought I was eating a clean diet.

Then I see the book Grain Brain: The Surprising Truth about Wheat, Carbs and Sugar - Your Brain's Silent Killers by Dr. David Perlmutter. I discovered that my brain needed healthy oils, butter, eggs i must stop eating gluten. Gluten is a protein in wheat, barley and rye which our body is sensitive to. Dr. Perlmutter writes as part of his book, "Gluten is what I call a "silent germ." It may inflict lasting damage without your knowing it." Which means no bread, no pizza, no pasta!
I quickly read up on my body type which, is Ayurveda, The Perfect Balance Diet by Lissa Coffey. My figure type is Tri-Dosha - kapha (50%), pitta (25%) and vata (25%) which informed me that I needed to eat seasonally. Avoid ice-cold beverages and food. Add lemon to my water. Avoid frozen, canned, processed and left-over foods. Avoid foods with caffeine; soda, tea and coffee. Choose organic fresh fruits and vegetables. Almonds, cashews and walnuts are rich in protein. Arise at 6AM, meditate, exercise and eat by 10AM, lunch by 1PM and dinner at 6 to 7PM then bed at 10PM.
Now I used to be on a roll, I analyzed my blood type diet, which is 'B' and read the book, Live Befitting Your Type by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo to learn that there were beneficial foods, neutral foods and foods to prevent for my blood type. The majority of the foods to avoid I used to be consuming, especially tomatoes. I will eat olive oil, some vegetables, certain fish, goat cheese, feta and cottage, skim milk and yogurt. Only kidney and navy beans and black walnuts. Of all things, I could eat rice. Avoid tomatoes, wheat, pasta, nuts, seeds.
During this process I went to the book launch of Vani Hari, author of the book The Food Babe Way. It's terrifying to learn about what she has discovered by what is in the foods we eat willingly. Organic is a must as well as reading labels, and eliminating toxins and adding a couple of tasty alternatives to have a healthy lifestyle and eating clean. GMO (genetically modified organisms) are big with her as well as the ingredients listed rather than listed in our foods. Her book sets you up to break free from the hidden toxins in your food, lose weight and to get healthy in just A three week period.
I discovered that reading labels is upsetting only as you discover and become conscious of what you have been eating all along that is toxic to your body. "Canola oil seems to be in everything and it is the worst possible oil to consume as it is extracted from rapeseed plants which have been genetically modified,"states Vani. The Food Babe Approach is the best book out today that explains the toxins in our foods, the differing types of diets and present us alternative way to change our unhealthy method of eating.
I decided to eat gluten free, enjoy wild fish, organic fruit and veggies. Enjoy organic coffee with organic skim milk, organic goat cheese, almonds and walnuts being a treat. I will still bless my food, especially when I eat out because I will never know what I will be eating. I already meditate upon awakening and so i am one step ahead. I adapted towards the up at 6AM, breakfast at 10AM, lunch at 1PM and dinner by 6 to 7PM routine for the past month which works for me.
As a society filled with abundance in the food stores, it's about time to educate ourselves on what foods we are consuming and just what foods we are feeding our kids. There is toxins in foods which are processed. From our water to the toothpaste we are consuming ingredients which are toxic. Start reading food labels now to learn what is creating havoc within your body. Soda, Fast Foods, GMO's are filled up with toxins, its time to remove them.
